Premiere Of Paramount Pictures' 'Ben-Hur' - Red Carpet"Brooklyn Nine-Nine" actor and former football player Terry Crews has joined the list of stars opening up on sexual assault.

Crews tweeted on Tuesday after several days of stories about Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein. Crews' story about an unnamed executive groping his privates broadens the conversation beyond men assaulting women. It also reveals more reasons why many victims only choose to tell close friends/family instead of "coming forward" at the time to press charges.

Fans have been reaching out to thank Crews for sharing his experience, and adding more perspective:

Stars have been speaking up to share their stories of abuse by Harvey Weinstein. But, as Crews notes, Weinstein is not the only one out there abusing his status, he's just the one standing in for all of the others right now.

On October 8, Yelchin was honored in a ceremony at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery in Los Angeles. A statue in his memory was unveiled in the Garden of Legends. "It is a bittersweet morning because 1) we're here for Anton, and 2) he's not here with us," Saldana said. "But it really alleviates my heart to know that we'll keep him alive. We're going to keep all that he was full of, which was life. We're going to keep remembering that, in the hopes that by practicing all the things he believed in, and remembering all the love that he gave us, and all the joy he gave us in the short time that he was with us, that we're able to just keep him here with us, which is really important."

Anton Yelchin died June 19, 2016 after being pinned by his vehicle in a freak accident. He was 27. His family has launched the Anton Yelchin Foundation to support young people in the creative arts who face career challenges due to a debilitating disease or disability.

Why 'Punch-Drunk Love' is the Best Romantic Comedy You've Never Seen

$
0
0

For some reason, when the great romantic comedies are discussed, the list is usually small and predictable. There's usually "When Harry Met Sally," an early Woody Allen gem (let's say "Annie Hall") and maybe something more modern and universally accepted (like "Crazy Stupid Love"). But along the fringes there are all sorts of compelling romantic comedy alternatives, films that will make your heart soar but might have a little bit more flavor, character and texture than your typical meet-cute. And one of the greatest of those films is Paul Thomas Anderson's "Punch-Drunk Love."

Anderson is, of course, an American auteur whose tastes typically run to Altman-esque character studies like "Boogie Nights" and "Inherent Vice" or sweeping dramas like "There Will Be Blood" or "The Master." But after the filmmaker had gotten done with "Magnolia," a sprawling, three-hour-long Oscar-nominated epic, he wanted to do something more streamlined and comedic. So he set his sights on "Punch-Drunk Love," a nimble romantic comedy that clocked in at 95 minutes and starred one of the biggest draws on the planet at the time, Adam Sandler. To get ready for the movie he directed segments of "Saturday Night Live" and for his troubles he was awarded the Best Director prize at Cannes.

"Punch-Drunk Love" has a deceptively simple storyline. Sandler plays Barry, a man who manufactures novelty toilet plungers and who is cripplingly lonely. He meets Lena (Emily Watson), who he quickly falls for, while also becoming embroiled in an extortion scheme run by a vindictive band of Mormons (led by a fiery Philip Seymour Hoffman). While the film might seem slight, "Punch-Drunk Love" contains multitudes. Not only are there are all sorts of tangential asides that add richness and dimension to the film (like Barry's army of cruel sisters or his attempt to exploit a frequent flyer program by buying an excessive amount of pudding cups), but it's an absolute technical knockout. Frequent Anderson confederate Robert Elswit handled the cinematography and it features graphic interstitials by artist Jeremy Blake (whose mysterious death a few years later is very much worth a Google) that play like the most hypnotic screensaver you've ever laid your eyes on.

But more than that it is an emotional tour de force. This film was made before Sandler branched out to dramatic roles and anything that wasn't a broad comedy felt positively experimental. It remains his single greatest performance. Barry is bruised and desperate, both angry and deeply romantic, and Sandler is able to portray each shade with an insane amount of nuance. No matter how outlandish the movie becomes (there's an interlude in Hawaii, bursts of extreme violence, and a song requisitioned from Altman's problematic live-action "Popeye"), you're so fully put in Barry's shoes that it all seems commonplace. What's more, he's a character that is so wonderfully wounded that you can't help but identify with some aspect of him. His relationship with Watson is really affecting and is always sentimental without ever becoming saccharine.

And it's this winning combination of sweet and sour that makes it such an unforgettable classic. So many romantic comedies are simply goofy, without any of the darker aspects of love. They're joyous and celebratory, for sure, with punctuations of heartache, but rarely do they grasp at the slippery weirdness that so many of us find ourselves in while navigating the turbulent seas of romance. "Punch-Drunk Love" never shies away from that strangeness and, in fact, luxuriates in it. It's where this movie lives. And yes, it will make your heart soar. So the next time you're in the mood for a romantic comedy, please give "Punch-Drunk Love" a shot. It's the work of a filmmaker operating at the height of his powers, with many of his closest collaborators (including composer Jon Brion, whose twinkling music is downright magical) and an actor showing early signs of artistic fearlessness. If you're looking for a version to watch, too, the film was recently released as part of the Criterion Collection, embellished with a number of notable features (including an archival interview with David Phillips, the "pudding guy" who Anderson used as inspiration for Sandler's character) and anchored by a pristine presentation of the film.

No matter how you watch "Punch-Drunk Love," though, be advised that you'll probably fall in love with it. This isn't your standard romantic comedy, but it's an endlessly rewarding and gorgeous one. In short, "Punch-Drunk Love" will make you swoon.

The Rock Teases 'Cool, Exciting' Hobbs Spinoff: 'Candy Asses Need Not Apply'

ENTERTAINMENT-US-CINEMA-THE FATE OF THE FURIOUSDwayne "The Rock" Johnson just hyped his Hobbs spinoff with a mini teaser, while playing off the "Fast and Furious" drama around him.

As you know, "Fast 9" was delayed until 2020 and now The Rock's spinoff with Jason Statham will be coming out in 2019. Tyrese has not been happy about that -- blaming The Rock -- but Vin Diesel defended the delay as needed time for them to do "maintenance" on the "Fast" franchise.

The Rock shared a video and this note with fans to share his initial thoughts on the spinoff:

"Daddy's gotta go back to work ~ Hobbs.
Pumped to expand and build out the FAST & FURIOUS universe in a cool, exciting way with our @sevenbucksprod, writer/producer Chris Morgan, producer Hiram Garcia and lead producer and my bigger twin, Neil Moritz.
Thank you UNIVERSAL STUDIOS for being tremendous partners who see the big picture and for coming to us years ago with this spinoff idea. Huge shout to my brother, Jason Statham for the trust and wanting to create and deliver something fresh and bad ass for the fans.
I have a tremendous amount of respect for this franchise that I've enjoyed droppin' blood and sweat in over the years and my vision is to create greater opportunities for not only my fellow FF cast mates, but for other amazing actors as well who want to be a part of something new and cool.
I want to use my spinoff platform to create new characters that fans will ultimately love to have fun with in multiple chapters and platforms. Film, TV, Digital, Virtual Reality etc.. the more opportunities we can create the better for the fans.
Smart business.
Let's have some FUN and to quote, Hobbs the boss, if you don't like it, we're happy to beat that ass like a Cherokee drum.

A post shared by therock (@therock) on

Yes, the "candy asses" are back! That's the colorful phrase The Rock used last year when calling out some male "Fast 8" co-stars toward the end of filming. That was said to be about Vin Diesel, although they later reportedly quashed any beef. The Rock later stood by his candy asses insults, and called more actors the term in a more playful, lighthearted way. Now maybe there's an edge to it, after all of the public drama with Tyrese blaming him for the "Fast 9" delay. But Daddy's gotta go back to work, so he doesn't have time for any more drama.

Watch Matt Damon Crash the 'Thor' Cast's Jimmy Kimmel Chat 'Cause It's Still Hilarious

Even if you're tired of the Matt Damon/Jimmy Kimmel fake feud, watch this video for Chris Hemsworth's take.

"Thor: Ragnarok" just premiered across the street from the "Jimmy Kimmel Live" set, so Hemsworth (Thor), Mark Ruffalo (The Hulk), and director Taika Waititi went on JKL to talk up the movie. While Hemsworth sat on stage with Kimmel, Ruffalo and Waititi were backstage in the green room. You know who else was there? The same guy who has been waiting backstage for years for his chance to get on the show. So when the cameras went backstage to talk to Ruffalo, Damon tried to sneak his way into the frame, enraging Kimmel. "It's the mighty Thor not the mighty bore," Kimmel snapped.

Cutting away from the backstage cameras, Hemsworth told Kimmel he is friends with Damon out of pity:

"I didn't invite him. I mean I'm friends with him, but more out of -- I feel sorry for him. He has nothing, he has nothing. I saw a friend in need so I decided to extend a handshake." Hemsworth said he has gone on vacations with Damon, but only because Damon has turned up to his house in Australia, uninvited.

Damon returned for more on-screen shenanigans after that, so watch it all:The whole thing is funnier than it has any right to be, especially after this bit has been done so many times.

Apart from this, it's a bit of an awkward time for Damon, since he got himself dragged into the Harvey Weinstein drama, and has been trying to drag himself out.

"Thor: Ragnarok" has been getting good reviews so far, and it opens November 3.

Lindsay Lohan Defends Harvey Weinstein in Deleted Video Telling Everyone to 'Stop'

AFI FEST Presented By Audi Opening Night Gala Of 'Bobby' - ArrivalsLindsay Lohan just jumped head-first into the Harvey Weinstein sex scandal, telling everyone to back off, and saying his wife needs to "take a stand and be there for her husband."

Why did she feel the need to chime in? Who knows. It's LiLo. Her hair is full of secrets.

Stories have been pouring out this week about producer Weinstein's alleged sexual harassment, assault, and rape of Hollywood actresses. He was fired from The Weinstein Company, disavowed by many industry stars, and -- as of yesterday -- left by his wife, designer Georgina Chapman.

Lindsay Lohan is heartsick about it all. In a now-deleted Instagram story, she defended Weinstein and called on his wife to stand by her husband:

"Hi, this is Lindsay Lohan. I'm in Dubai. I'm home. I feel very bad for Harvey Weinstein right now. I don't think it's right what's going on. I think Georgina needs to take a stand and be there for her husband. And he's never harmed me or did anything wrong to me – we've done several movies together. And so I think everyone needs to stop. I think it's wrong. So stand up."

That message is no longer on her Insta, but it is all over the Internet, and the Internet has reacted with disgust:
Some fans are defending her, though, arguing Lohan may be traumatized from her own past:

Yeah, she is taking an eyebrow-raising stand here, and fans are responding with fair points, but piling on doesn't help. It's just the mob mentality kicking in and doing more harm than good.

At least Harvey Weinstein can take comfort from having Lohan as his champion. Unless he wishes she stayed quiet.

'Outlander' Casts Two Major Roles For Season 4

"Outlander" is looking to the future.

The Starz drama has added two new cast members for Season 4 (though Season 3 is still airing). Maria Doyle Kennedy ("Orphan Black," "The Tudors") will play Jamie's strong-willed Aunt Jocasta, while Ed Speleers ("Downton Abbey") will embody Irish pirate/smuggler Stephen Bonnet.

(Side note: Interestingly, Kennedy also appeared on "Downton Abbey," but never on screen with Speleers.)

Both Jocasta and Bonnet figure to be major figures in the life of Jamie (Sam Heughan) and Claire (Caitriona Balfe), who recently reunited after 20 years apart when she time-traveled to 1765.

SPOILERS FOR THE BOOK AHEAD!

Season 4 will presumably be based on Diana Gabaldon's fourth book, "Drums of Autumn." Jamie and Claire wind up at Jocasta's plantation in North Carolina. Their daughter, Brianna (Sophie Skelton), eventually follows them, while Roger (Richard Rankin) eventually follows her. The entire family becomes embroiled in Bonnet's nefarious doings.

Ben Affleck Apologizes For Groping Hilarie Burton on 'TRL'

Ben Affleck On MTV's TRLBen Affleck seems to be the pot calling the kettle black. He denounced Harvey Weinstein (who has produced many of his movies), but ended up having to apologize for his own sexual harassment of Hilarie Burton.

In the wake of the Weinstein sexual harassment scandal, actresses like Gwyneth Paltrow and Angelina Jolie have been stepping forward to talk about misconduct they experienced with him and other male Hollywood figures.

Men have lauded the women for their bravery. Among them was Affleck, who posted that he was "saddened and angry that a man who I worked with used his position of power to intimidate, sexually harass and manipulate many women over decades." He added, "I find myself asking what I can do to make sure this doesn't happen to others."

Then, Affleck got dragged.

First, Rose McGowan — who has been vocal about her own experience with Weinstein — claimed that Affleck was aware of the producer's harassment.

Then, Burton shared her own Affleck story from her time as a VJ on "Total Request Live." When a Twitter user brought up Affleck's 2003 appearance on "TRL," when he allegedly grabbed Burton's breast, she corroborated the claim:

And here are the receipts, in video:

The actor responded to Burton:

We Spent One Crazy Night With Kristen Bell on the Set of 'Bad Moms Christmas'

$

Christmastime is always one of the most stressful times of year. There are the presents, trying to wrap up work so you can actually spend some quality time with the people you love, cooking, and never feeling like anything you're doing is actually good enough.

But there's nobody who feels that pressure quite like a mother. They are, after all, the people who everybody turns to; they're the ones doing most of the cooking and cleaning and shopping and prepping. They are the heroes of the holidays (and pretty much every other day too). And where better to investigate this phenomenon than in "A Bad Moms Christmas," the sequel to last year's surprise hit, "Bad Moms"?

What's more, I got to travel to Atlanta to the set of "A Bad Moms Christmas." And it was good.

If you haven't seen the trailers for the film yet, this year's entry in what we can all assume will be a long and profitable franchise, follows original moms Amy (Mila Kunis), Kiki (Kristen Bell), and Carla (Kathryn Hahn) as they prepare for the holidays. Adding in even more stress and befuddlement is the fact that their moms are along for the ride this time, too -- Christine Baranski is Amy's mom, Cheryl Hines is Kiki's mom, and Susan Sarandon is Carla's mom. If you wanted more moms in the follow-up, you will not be disappointed.

When we visited the movie's filming location in early May, the elder moms were not present, but they were on everyone's mind. It was a ritzy shopping center in Atlanta, Georgia, and from the looks of it, the moms had already reached their breaking point and were starting to go wild. (If you saw that shot of them in the trailer, downing trial-size shots, that's what we were watching. It was the middle of the night and the mall was closed, which gave it an eerie, "Are You Afraid of the Dark?"-type vibe.)

At one point, we stopped and had a Skype chat with producer Suzanne Todd, who confirmed that early reports that the sequel would instead follow bad dads, was something cooked up by the studio and not part of the filmmakers' plan.

"We wanted to give people a little bit of what they liked from the first movie, but we had a lot of conversations about comedy sequels -- where they do the same thing again -- and it's, ultimately, not very satisfying," Todd said. "So, we have a few new elements to this. There's this idea of Christmas, and the idea of the three girls, and their relationship with their mother."

This was something that was stressed time and time again during our set visit -- that this was not some lame comedy sequel, full of recycled jokes and threadbare scenarios. Later in the night (or was it morning at this point?), co-director Jon Lucas said they were very conscious of not falling into "making the same movie again."

One thing that Todd wanted to maintain, though, was its progressiveness. While the first movie might not seem like a grand trailblazer, it was unafraid in showing the many dimensions to motherhood, with some of them unflattering or downright ugly. It was a fully formed, deeply realized portrayal and the overwhelming response to the movie was proof that it struck a chord with audiences.

"I think that like the first movie the idea [with the sequel] is to tear down some of these personal and societal and cultural norms of both torturing ourselves about not being good enough," Todd explained.

And what of the new moms on the scene?

"We talked a lot with the actresses who they thought their mom would be," Todd said. "Amy's mom is very overbearing and Kiki's mom has no boundaries; Carla's mom is the explanation for why Carla is the way she is. The nice thing for us is that we had so many great actresses who wanted to be involved in the project. It was actually really, really fun. They're also slightly different ages -- Cheryl is closer to Kristen Bell's age and the other are a slightly different spread. They were grandmas from a different decade."

During a break in filming the original moms -- Kunis, Bell, and Hahn -- took a few minutes to talk to us about their experience on the movie. They were in a small, disused storefront, which was packed with lighting equipment and make-up and camera stuff. It was surreal that a space that could have been a Spencer's Gifts was now a critical junction for a major motion picture production.

Echoing Todd's statements, Kunis said that the sequel is taking the complexity of the characters into consideration: "I think that embracing that characters are flawed and allowing the women to not be the perfect, stay-at-home mom character is important." She then added, "I think it's important to show real life."

Bell said: "There's nothing funny about perfection," and then hastily added that while that phrase is really good she didn't come up with it."

The addition of their mothers has added even more to their characters, according to the actresses. "I think it's made my character more dimensional. You saw the journey we went on the first one where we were taking charge of our lives and we weren't going to be pegged down," Bell said. With the addition of the mothers, she said, "You see these characters very much out of their element." Hahn remarked that, "There's only one woman who would make Carla feel small and that's her mother."

Other differences for the sequel: Bell's character wears "a little bit more eye make-up in this movie" and the fact that Kunis' character doesn't "get action," if ya know what she means.

When the topic of avoiding comedy sequel fatigue was brought up, Bell was quick to say that the additional mothers sets it apart from the original pretty spectacularly.

"It creates an entirely different layer for each of our characters, with our relationships with each other and the dynamic with each other," Bell said. Then Kunis added: "The thing that people would have assumed with the sequel is, 'And then the mothers go to Hawaii,' or, 'And then the mothers go to Vegas.' And it's not that. I think what makes this one different is that it stays true to the story. It's not like a shtick, where they go on a different adventure."

With that the bad moms were pulled out of the former Brookstone or Sees Candies and went back into the mall, to fight and yell and drink heavily. Hey, Christmas will do that to you, even if you're in Atlanta in the middle of summer.

Cara Delevingne Reveals Gross Harvey Weinstein Encounter: 'I Was Terrified'

0

Cara Delevingne Book SigningCara Delevingne is the latest actress to come forward with her own tale of an inappropriate encounter with Harvey Weinstein, the Hollywood power player who stands accused of sexually harassing -- and in several cases allegedly abusing -- multiple women over a decades-long period.

Delevingne joins a chorus that includes names like Gwyneth Paltrow, Angelina Jolie, Ashley Judd, Rose McGowan, Rosanna Arquette, and Mira Sorvino, who have claimed that Weinstein harassed or assaulted them early in their careers. And according to the model-actress, it was a very similar story to the one others are telling, in which she was summoned to the producer's hotel room for what she thought was a professional meeting; the encounter, however, soon morphed into something much more bizarre and frightening.

In a pair of posts on Instagram, Delevingne said she first came into contact with Weinstein when she was transitioning from modeling to acting, and the producer called her out of the blue to ask her some questions about her sex life. Delevingne, who identifies as sexually fluid, said the "very odd and uncomfortable" conversation ended with Weinstein warning her "that If I was gay or decided to be with a woman especially in public that I'd never get the role of a straight woman or make it as an actress in Hollywood."

When I first started to work as an actress, i was working on a film and I received a call from Harvey Weinstein asking if I had slept with any of the women I was seen out with in the media. It was a very odd and uncomfortable call....i answered none of his questions and hurried off the phone but before I hung up, he said to me that If I was gay or decided to be with a woman especially in public that I'd never get the role of a straight woman or make it as an actress in Hollywood. A year or two later, I went to a meeting with him in the lobby of a hotel with a director about an upcoming film. The director left the meeting and Harvey asked me to stay and chat with him. As soon as we were alone he began to brag about all the actresses he had slept with and how he had made their careers and spoke about other inappropriate things of a sexual nature. He then invited me to his room. I quickly declined and asked his assistant if my car was outside. She said it wasn't and wouldn't be for a bit and I should go to his room. At that moment I felt very powerless and scared but didn't want to act that way hoping that I was wrong about the situation. When I arrived I was relieved to find another woman in his room and thought immediately I was safe. He asked us to kiss and she began some sort of advances upon his direction. I swiftly got up and asked him if he knew that I could sing. And I began to sing....i thought it would make the situation better....more professional....like an audition....i was so nervous. After singing I said again that I had to leave. He walked me to the door and stood in front of it and tried to kiss me on the lips. I stopped him and managed to get out of the room. I still got the part for the film and always thought that he gave it to me because of what happened. Since then I felt awful that I did the movie. I felt like I didn't deserve the part. I was so hesitant about speaking out....I didn't want to hurt his family. I felt guilty as if I did something wrong. I was also terrified that this sort of thing had happened to so many women I know but no one had said anything because of fear.

A post shared by Cara Delevingne (@caradelevingne) on

Fast-forward to a couple years later, when the actress said she met with Weinstein in a hotel lobby to discuss a film role, which devolved into Weinstein allegedly bragging about his famous sexual conquests. Delevingne said she was then pressured by the producer's assistant to join him in his hotel room; when the actress arrived, there was another woman there.

Delevingne wrote:

In a follow-up post, Delevingne assured women who have experienced similar harassment or assault that the fault is not theirs, and thanked those who previously came forward about Weinstein for their honesty and bravery.

"In every industry and especially in Hollywood, men abuse their power using fear and get away with it," the actress wrote. "This must stop. The more we talk about it, the less power we give them."

Through a spokesperson, Weinstein has previously denied any non-consensual sexual accusations. He was recently fired from his position at The Weinstein Company, and his wife, fashion designer Georgina Chapman, has announced she intends to file for divorce.

The Academy May Kick Out Harvey Weinstein

89th Annual Academy Awards - ArrivalsHarvey Weinstein, the powerful Hollywood producer who stands accused of sexually harassing and assaulting multiple women, has already lost his job at his eponymous company. Now, he may lose his membership in the Academy, too.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences released a statement on Wednesday condemning Weinstein's alleged actions, calling the accusations "repugnant" and "abhorrent." The group says it plans to convene a special meeting of its board of governors this weekend to discuss whether or not to take action against the producer, who is a member of the Academy's executives branch.

The full statement said:

"The Academy finds the conduct described in the allegations against Harvey Weinstein to be repugnant, abhorrent, and antithetical to the high standards of the Academy and the creative community it represents. The Board of Governors will be holding a special meeting on Saturday, October 14, to discuss the allegations against Weinstein and any actions warranted by the Academy."

According to Indie Wire, that action could include kicking Weinstein out of the Academy entirely, with two governors telling the site that that possibility has already been discussed. But that's an extremely drastic and rare action: Vanity Fair reports that there's only one known example of someone being thrown out of the prestigious group, and that's actor Carmine Caridi ("The Godfather: Part II"), "who was expelled after he loaned his Oscar screeners to a neighbor who turned out to be a movie pirate."

Furthermore, several anonymous Academy members who spoke to Vanity Fair and Variety noted that scandal-plagued stars Bill Cosby and Roman Polanski still maintain their Academy membership, muddying the waters of an excuse to boot Weinstein over bad behavior. But the messages coming from inside the Academy are decidedly mixed, with members and governors also telling both outlets that the group is hoping to take swift action against Weinstein.

Meanwhile, BAFTA, the British Academy of Film and Television Arts, suspended Weinstein this week, noting in a statement that it "considers the reported alleged behaviour completely unacceptable and incompatible with BAFTA's values," and that "such behaviour has absolutely no place in our industry."

Rose McGowan's Twitter Account Suspended After Weinstein, Affleck Tweets

2017 TCM Classic Film Festival - Day 4Twitter has "temporarily limited" the account of actress Rose McGowan for alleged rule violations, and her supporters are livid. The "Charmed" star had been active on Twitter denouncing Harvey Weinstein and everyone who knew about his behavior, including -- from her recollections -- Ben Affleck.

McGowan's account was suspended, preventing her from tweeting, retweeting, or liking posts. She revealed a snapshot of the message she got from Twitter, along with an Instagram caption alleging "THERE ARE POWERFUL FORCES AT WORK":

TWITTER HAS SUSPENDED ME. THERE ARE POWERFUL FORCES AT WORK. BE MY VOICE. #ROSEARMY

A post shared by Rose McGowan (@rosemcgowan) on

Her most recent tweets are all about sexual assault allegations related to Weinstein or others in Hollywood. The latest one, from Wednesday, is a retweet of "Men are being applauded for denouncing sexual assault now while women are being demonized for not reporting it sooner." Previous tweets ask people to "go easy on Lindsay Lohan" for defending Harvey Weinstein, because of Lindsay's child star past; and McGowan calling Harvey's brother Bob Weinstein a "POS" saying, "They allllll knew."

McGowan also got a lot of attention for a tweet she sent to Ben Affleck, alleging he lied about not knowing about Harvey Weinstein's behavior:

#ROSEARMY IS HERE #WHYWOMENDONTREPORT

A post shared by Rose McGowan (@rosemcgowan) on

After McGowan and others called out Affleck for his own behavior -- including groping Hilary Burton on "TLR," which was caught on tape -- Affleck apologized for "acting inappropriately toward Ms. Burton."

McGowan had her own hotel room incident with Harvey Weinstein at the Sundance Film Festival, and reached a $100,000 settlement with him in 1997.

In 2015, McGowan shared an anecdote about a casting note for an Adam Sandler movie, requiring actresses to wear form fitting clothes that showed off cleavage, and form fitting leggings. She said she was later fired by her agent "because I spoke up about the bullsh*t in Hollywood."

McGowan is getting strong support on social media, with fans questioning Twitter's methodology in allowing some content while suspending others:

2017 iHeartRadio Music Festival - Night 1 - Backstage"Dawson's Creek" alum James Van Der Beek is the latest star to reveal personal stories of sexual harassment.

Van Der Beek has been tweeting support of the many women speaking out against Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein. He later added some of his own experiences with powerful men abusing their protected positions of authority:

The past several days have seen wave after wave of Hollywood star sharing similar stories -- including Gwyenth Paltrow and Cara Delevingne against Weinstein, and actor/former football player Terry Crews against an unnamed Hollywood exec. Their stories have prompted fans to also open up with their own stories of harassment/abuse from the people in their own lives and past workplaces.

Hopefully this is all leading to a massive culture change in Hollywood, Washington, and beyond. Most of us were taught these lessons as kids, but maybe they bear repeating -- keep your hands to yourself, and treat others with respect.

Kate Beckinsale Recalls 'Uneasy' Meeting With Harvey Weinstein When She Was 17

2017 Film Independent Spirit Awards - ArrivalsKate Beckinsale was left "uneasy but unscathed" after a creepy hotel meeting with Harvey Weinstein. She shared her story -- and a powerful call for real change -- after dozens of other stars have come forward with their own very similar experiences.

Beckinsale's story happened when she was only 17, and she revealed that, years later, Weinstein asked her if he had tried anything in the meeting, since he couldn't even remember what he had done. She also revealed he has screamed at her and called her a "c*nt," which, sadly, is the least of the things he's alleged to have done. The actress also shared that one of her male friends tried to warn another woman about Weinstein, after hearing Beckinsale's story, and then he was blacklisted from Miramax for speaking out.

Here's her full Instagram story; it's worth it to read every word:

"I was called to meet Harvey Weinstein at the Savoy Hotel when I was 17. I assumed it would be in a conference room which was very common. When I arrived, reception told me to go to his room. He opened the door in his bathrobe. I was incredibly naive and young and it did not cross my mind that this older, unattractive man would expect me to have any sexual interest in him. After declining alcohol and announcing that I had school in the morning I left, uneasy but unscathed.

A few years later he asked me if he had tried anything with me in that first meeting .I realized he couldn't remember if he had assaulted me or not. I had what I thought were boundaries - I said no to him professionally many times over the years-some of which ended up with him screaming at me calling me a c*nt and making threats, some of which made him laughingly tell people oh "Kate lives to say no to me."

It speaks to the status quo in this business that I was aware that standing up for myself and saying no to things, while it did allow me to feel uncompromised in myself, undoubtedly harmed my career and was never something I felt supported by anyone other than my family.

I would like to applaud the women who have come forward , and to pledge that we can from this create a new paradigm where producers, managers, executives and assistants and everyone who has in the past shrugged and said "well, that's just Harvey /Mr X/insert name here" will realize that we in numbers can affect real change.

For every moment like this there have been thousands where a vulnerable person has confided outrageous unprofessional behavior and found they have no recourse, due to an atmosphere of fear that it seems almost everyone has been living in .

I had a male friend who, based on my experience, warned a young actress who said she was going to dinner with Harvey to be careful. He received a phone call the next day saying he would never work in another Miramax film; the girl was already sleeping with Harvey and had told him that my friend had warned her off.

Let's stop allowing our young women to be sexual cannon fodder, and let's remember that Harvey is an emblem of a system that is sick, and that we have work to do."

Here's the photo she shared with her post:

Beckinsale is just the latest star to share an uneasy (or worse) story about Weinstein. Gwyenth Paltrow, Cara Delevingne, Angelina Jolie, Rose McGowan, and many others have come forward with personal experiences. Other stars to denounce Weinstein's actions include -- by The Hollywood Reporter's count -- Meryl Streep, Judi Dench, Bob Iger, George Clooney, Jennifer Lawrence, James Gunn, Leonardo DiCaprio, Brie Larson, Megan Ellison, Julianne Moore, Seth Rogen, Kevin Smith, Lena Dunham, Judd Apatow, John Oliver, Patricia Arquette, and Mark Ruffalo, among others. Matt Damon and Ben Affleck have also taken pains to distance themselves.

Weinstein is far from the only offender, and women are not the only victims, with Terry Crews and James Van Der Beek sharing their own stories of sexual harassment.

Harvey Weinstein At Awards DinnerHarvey Weinstein's deserved woes are growing: Now, the New York City Police Department and the London Metropolitan Police are both opening criminal investigations into allegations of the producer's sexual harassment and assault.

The NYPD said in a statement:

Based on information referenced in published news reports the NYPD is conducting a review to determine if there are any additional complaints relating to the Harvey Weinstein matter. No filed complaints have been identified as of this time and as always, the NYPD encourages anyone who may have information pertaining to this matter to call the CrimeStoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS," police told THR in a statement.

The NYPD is actively reviewing past files and asking for any victims to step forward. In 2015, the Manhattan district attorney's office investigation Weinstein after Ambra Battilana Gutierrez claimed sexual harassment. Their sting operation even yielded a damning tape, mentioned in the bombshell New Yorker exposé, but District Attorney Cyrus Vance, Jr. opted not to prosecute.

Meanwhile, London police are looking into an assault that took place in a town in England in the 1980s. In a statement, Scotland Yard said:

The Met has been passed an allegation of sexual abuse by Merseyside police on Wednesday 11 October. The allegation will be assessed by officers from the child abuse and sexual offences command."

Weinstein, via his rep, has "unequivocally denied" any allegation of non-consensual sex.

"Settlers of Catan" is building a road to a movie adaptation.

Sony is in talks to buy the rights to the game, which was designed by Klaus Teuber. The studio is working with producer Gail Katz ("The Perfect Storm") who acquired the rights in 2015. Blaise Hemingway (the forthcoming "Playmobil") is set to write the script. Sony is reportedly hoping to make a franchise out of "Catan."

"Settlers of Catan" is a tabletop strategy game in which players build roads, settlements, and cities on the fiction island of Catan, using various resources like brick and lumber. The game has sold over 25 million copies in 38 languages, and has spawned expansions and spinoffs, including a "Star Trek" version and an upcoming "Game of Thrones" version. It is also available to play on gaming and mobile platforms.

"Catan" is just the latest board game to move to the big screen, joining "Battleship," "Ouija," and of course, the cult classic "Clue."

Jennifer Lawrence Wore an Actual Wedding Gown to a Movie Premiere

Premiere Of Cohen Media Group's 'Faces Places' - ArrivalsYou don't actually have to be a bride to wear a wedding dress.

Jennifer Lawrence attended the "Faces Places" premiere in West Hollywood on Wednesday, and her choice of attire sparked buzz. The white gown she wore was in fact an L. Wells bridal dress, as Glamour reports. All that was missing was a groom and an officiant.

To be fair, the dress isn't overly fussy and doesn't scream "bridal." It works for a less life-changing event, such as the movie premiere she attended. Still, it did make some people question whether she might have been dropping a hint.

US-ENTERTAINMENT-FILM-PHOTOGRAPHYAs far as we know, however, Lawrence has no plans to get married anytime soon. While the actress is currently dating her "Mother!" director, Darren Aronofsky, she told Vogue that they only began dating after the film wrapped. We suspect she just really likes white gowns -- she wore one to the "Mother!" premiere, too.

When you're Jennifer Lawrence, you can wear whatever you want, bridal attire included.

Rose McGowan Publicly Accuses Harvey Weinstein of Rape

Rose McGowanThe gloves are off. Rose McGowan returned to Twitter after a one-day suspension and she's not holding back.

In tweets directed at Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos, she said she told one of his execs that Harvey Weinstein had raped her: "I told the head of your studio that HW raped me. Over & over I said it. He said it hadn't been proven. I said I was the proof."

She has previously said that she was raped by a high-powered movie producer, but never named her assailant before. According to The New York Times, McGowan accepted a $100,000 settlement from Weinstein after an incident in 1997, a settlement that did not include an admission of guilt from the movie mogul.

McGowan went on to say that she had "begged" Amazon Studios to take action about Weinstein. She accused the company of winning a "dirty Oscar." That my be referring not to Weinstein, but to "Manchester by the Sea," an Amazon production that won Best Original Screenplay and Best Actor for Casey Affleck, who settled with two women who accused him of sexual harassment.

According to The Daily Mail, McGowan was developing a TV series with Amazon studio head Roy Price, who pulled the plug on it. Price was just suspended after being accused of sexual harassment himself.

McGowan had previously talked to Ronan Farrow about his own investigation into Weinstein, then asked him to remove her name from the story that eventually ran in The New Yorker. Without naming her, he said she wrote, "I'm so sorry. The legal angle is coming at me and I have no recourse."

It's not clear whether McGowan will face any consequences for breaking the terms of her settlement, which, we assume, included a non-disclosure agreement.

Since that Times exposé, dozens of women have come forward with stories about how Weinstein sexually harassed them. Four women have accused him of rape. A spokeswoman for Weinstein told CNN on Thursday, "Any allegations of non-consensual sex are unequivocally denied by Mr. Weinstein."

Amazon and The Weinstein Co. are producing partners on two upcoming TV series. Earlier this week, Amazon said "we are reviewing our options for the projects we have with The Weinstein Company."

Steven Seagal Has Reportedly Been 'Weinstein-ing' Women Since The '90s

Steven SeagalMore women have come forward to share their story of being sexually harassed, but this time it's '90s action star Steven Seagal who's being accused of Harvey Weinstein-type behavior.

"Inside Edition" reports that allegations against Seagal are also multiple, and go back more than 20 years. Jenny McCarthy said that during a casting session, Seagal said to her, "So you were [Playboy's] Playmate of the Year? Take off your dress."

"If you are an actress in Hollywood you have been Harvey Weinstein-ed," says "Inside Edition" correspondent Lisa Guerrero. "I was Harvey Weinstein-ed by Steven Seagal."

Guerrero tells Newsweek that when she went to audition for the lead role in Seagal's "Fire Down Below" in 1996, it was held at his house -- and the actor greeted her wearing only a silk robe. "This was potentially a huge break for me," Guerrero says, "but there was no way I was going there by myself," so the casting agency sent a female agent along with her. "I left walking away, thinking, 'Thank God I was with another person,'" she recalled on "Inside Edition."

Her manager later called and said, "Steven wants to offer you the lead, but you have to go back to his home for a private rehearsal tonight." Guerrero declined, but still landed a smaller role in the film.

On set, she says, Seagal approached her and asked, "Would you like to go into my dressing room?'" She once again said no.

"When I read about Harvey Weinstein, the reports of him appearing in a robe triggered me," she says. "That's exactly what Steven Seagal did. I found out later that he was notorious for this."

"Inside Edition" asked Seagal to comment on Guerrero's allegations, but he has not yet replied.
