Vin Diesel Backs Tyrese With 'Brotherhood' as The Rock Is Blamed for 'Fast' Family Split

$

ENTERTAINMENT-US-CINEMA-THE FATE OF THE FURIOUSVin Diesel was *thisclose* to not even being a part of the latest "Fast" feud, but he pulled himself back in.

If you've been following "The Fast and Furious" developments, you know "Fast 9" was delayed until 2020, with that news very shortly followed by confirmation of a spinoff starring Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and Jason Statham. Now that will open in 2019 instead.

Tyrese Gibson is not happy. He's been lashing out at The Rock on Instagram, blaming him for breaking up the "Fast" family with this spinoff. Tyrese was already firing warning shots even before the spinoff was announced.

But now Vin Diesel has stepped into the fight through the side door, simply sharing this throwback photo with two of his "Fast" boys, Tyrese and the late Paul Walker:

Brotherhood...

A post shared by Vin Diesel (@vindiesel) on

That definitely suggests Diesel has Tyrese's back through Tyrese's very public attacks on The Rock. That's not too shocking, since The Rock played this Instagram game last year while they were filming "Fast 8," and his "candy asses" comments were said to be directed at Vin Diesel. So this could be considered payback.

What would Paul Walker make of this, do you think? Would he be disappointed in them? Laugh it off? Take a side? He and Diesel were as close as brothers, so he'd probably stand wherever Vin stood.

Tyrese did not fail to notice Diesel's Instagram post, and he reposted it with his own note:

The "44 million" comment is probably a reference to the number of followers Vin Diesel has on Instagram.

The Rock -- who has 94 million Instagram followers -- has yet to respond to any of this. He might, though, since he basically bragged that his "candy asses" rant was great publicity for "Fast 8." Jason Statham is also part of this spinoff, but history suggests he'll try to "stay out of any bickering" between the lads.

'Fantastic Beasts 2' Casts 8 New Roles, Including Nicholas Flamel

The sequel to "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" just revealed eight new characters, although Jessica Williams' role is still being kept secret.

Pottermore, author/screenwriter J.K. Rowling's official site, announced the new characters and cast members:

Brontis Jodorowsky will play Nicolas Flamel, the alchemist who discovered the Elixir of Life, whom fans will remember from the very first book and film, "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone." Flamel was also a close friend of Albus Dumbledore, and Dumbledore was the one who suggested Flamel to put the Sorcerer's Stone in Gringotts Wizarding Bank before Dumbledore moved the stone to Hogwarts for further protection.

• Wolf Roth will play a character called Spielman.

• Victoria Yeates as Bunty.

• Derek Riddell as Torquil Travers.

• Poppy Corby-Tuech as Rosier.

• Cornell S John as Arnold Guzman.

• Jessica Williams of "The Daily Show" and Netflix's "The Incredible Jessica James" is playing a character to be revealed later.

• Fiona Glascott as a character who will also be revealed later

Pottermore reminded fans that the last names "Travers" and "Rosier" should stand out since the "Harry Potter" book series mentioned them as Death Eaters who served Lord Voldemort. It wouldn't be surprising to see them backing the pre-Moldy Voldy dark wizard, Gellert Grindelwald (Johnny Depp).

Premiere Of Netflix Original Film 'The Incredible Jessica James' At The 2017 Essence FestivalThe new cast members join original stars Eddie Redmayne as Newt Scamander, Katherine Waterston as Tina Goldstein, Alison Sudol as Queenie Goldstein, Dan Fogler as Jacob Kowalski, and Carmen Ejogo as President of MACUSA Seraphina Picquery. Jude Law is joining the cast as Albus Dumbledore, with Callum Turner as Newt's brother Theseus, and Zoë Kravitz as Newt's old friend/something more, Leta Lestrange.

Other previously announced new characters include a bounty hunter called Grimmson, played by Icelandic actor Ingvar Sigurdsson; William Nadylam as a wizard called Yusuf Kama; Ólafur Darri Ólafsson as Skender, the owner of a wizarding circus; and Claudia Kim as one of the circus's "featured attractions." Pottermore also previously mentioned the film holding open calls for five teenage roles -- the young versions of Newt, Leta, Gellert, Albus, and a new character named Sebastian.

'Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them' World Premiere"Fantastic Beasts 2" -- which will reveal its official title later -- will be set in 1927, months after Newt helped in the capture of Grindelwald, and set in London, Paris, and New York. Dumbledore will team up with Newt and his friends to take on Grindelwald, who'll make a "dramatic escape" from MACUSA custody. According to Pottermore, Grindelwald has been busy "gathering more followers to his cause – elevating wizards above all non-magical beings."

Principal photography on the sequel started in July, and the movie is scheduled for release November 16, 2018.

Jackie Chan Has Fans Bombarding Chris Tucker With 'Rush Hour 4' Tweets

Hong Kong action movie actor Jacke Chan(L) and USJackie Chan just got fans all hot and bothered about a fourth "Rush Hour" movie, and you have to wonder if Chris Tucker appreciates it.

Jackie Chan told Power 106's "The Cruz Show" that "Rush Hour 4" was in the works:

"For the last seven years, we've been turning down the script, turning down the script. Yesterday, we just agreed. The script probably at the end of this month will have a second draft, and next year, probably [we will] start. I hope — if Chris Tucker agrees."

"If Chris Tucker agrees." Key point.

Did Tucker agree to do the movie, and agree to the first draft of the script, and he now just needs to agree to a shooting schedule ... or does he still have to agree to be involved at all? Chan also added:

"It's not about money. It's about time to make [it]. We're all, like, old men. I told Chris Tucker, 'Before we get old, please, let's do 'Rush Hour 4.'"

Fans are now pushing Tucker to agree to whatever it takes to make this happen:

Chris Tucker has yet to tweet or make a statement about "Rush Hour 4." It has been 10 years since "Rush Hour 3" came out in 2007. The first film, an odd couple/buddy comedy hit, came out in 1998, followed by "Rush Hour 2" in 2001.

Isla Fisher Is Not Amy Adams, But Someone Still Needs to Tell Lady Gaga

$
0
0

Isla Fisher was not in "American Hustle." She was not in "Enchanted." She is not Amy Adams. OK, they were both in "Nocturnal Animals," and that was confusing, but Not All Gingers Are the Same. (Not even Jessica Chastain and Bryce Dallas Howard, although ... are we positive?)

Isla Fisher was just on "Jimmy Kimmel Live" to promote her new book, and Kimmel said he was Googling her name, and saw that "Amy Adams" often pops up with it. He asked the Australian "Wedding Crashers" star if people often confuse her with the five-time Oscar nominee. Fisher answered:

"Yes, they do, and I usually correct them. Sometimes I don't. A couple of times I can think of it's been quite funny."

Fisher said she was once at one of those fancy Hollywood parties, and she was all dressed up at the bar...

"The crowds parted and there was Lady Gaga, and she's heading right toward me. And she said, 'Thank you, your performance in 'American Hustle,' Amy, was [amazing].' And I'm thinking 'Oh my gosh, It's Lady Gaga, I love her so much, I don't want to tell her the truth.' So I just gracefully thanked her, bowed my head. And then she wants to talk about the performance, and now I'm thinking, 'I don't want to be a liar.' And then I look over her shoulder, and there's Amy Adams walking into the party. So I'm like 'There's Isla Fisher.' I said, 'She's not even nominated for anything, what's she doing here?'"

Hahaha. Fisher added another quick "low point" story on the subject. She said she was at an IKEA with her newborn baby (one of her three with husband Sacha Baron Cohen), exhausted and just trying to take a breath in the corner when a woman and her two kids approached her. They were so excited to meet "Amy Adams" and asked her to sing a song from "Enchanted." So she got out a few notes before they realized their mistake and backed away.

How much of those stories is really true and how much is exaggerated? Doesn't really matter. Her "Kimmel" video is gold (or ginger?) and ends with a great PSA to make it clear that Isla Fisher is not Amy Adams:You may recall when Bryce Dallas Howard and Jessica Chastain promoted a (really catchy) PSA song that attempted to differentiate them. And Chris Pine's "SNL" monologue included a song to help separate him from the other Chrises.

Some fans really have been living in ginger confusion all this time:

The First 'Thor: Ragnarok' Reviews Are In, With Three Big Standouts

Critics are now posting their thoughts on "Thor: Ragnarok," and it's clear they like it -- more than the previous "Thor" movies -- and they seem to agree on what they like best:

  • The humor -- calling Taika Waititi's film one of the funniest Marvel movies yet.
  • Mark Mothersbaugh's musical score.
  • Tessa Thompson's Valkyrie as the film's "MVP."

Here are a few of the early reactions:

Check out more initial reactions at Thor's own special hashtag. Full reviews will be posted after the embargo is lifted, but it looks like a fresh score is ahead -- maybe not top of the heap, but high. (DC fans, this is not bad for you, "Justice League," or the DCEU. It's OK for people to like another Marvel movie.)

"Thor: Ragnarok" stars Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Tom Hiddleston as Loki, and Mark Ruffalo as The Hulk, alongside Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie and Cate Blanchett as Hela the Goddess of Death. Idris Elba, Jeff Goldblum, Karl Urban, and Anthony Hopkins co-star. The movie arrives in theaters on November 3.

Emma Thompson Stood Up for Hayley Atwell When Harvey Weinstein Called Her a 'Fat Pig': Report

$

Harper's Bazaar Women of the Year Awards 2010 - LondonDo we really live in a world where someone would insult the perfection of Hayley Atwell? At least we also live in a world with heroes like Emma Thompson.

This past week, story after story has come out about producer Harvey Weinstein behaving like the insult he reportedly gave Atwell on the set of "Brideshead Revisited."

The New York Post's Page Six added the anecdote in a longer story detailing various alleged bad behavior by Weinstein. This particular story happened in 2007, when Weinstein visited the English countryside set of "Brideshead Revisited," which Miramax was in negotiations to distribute in North America.

BRIDESHEAD REVISITEDAccording to Page Six, during a break in filming, he went to chat with then 24-year-old Hayley Atwell, who was playing Julia Flyte in one of her first major roles.

Here's the story from there:

"At lunch, Weinstein sat with the cast and crew, and told Atwell to watch what she was eating, explaining that he had just come from watching that morning's filming and he didn't like what he saw, a film-industry source told The Post

'You look like a fat pig on screen,' said Weinstein, who had just come from watching the dailies. 'Stop eating so much.'

When Atwell told her Oscar-winning co-star Emma Thompson that the Miramax head ordered her to go on a diet, Thompson flipped. She took Weinstein aside and threatened to quit if he forced Atwell or any other woman on set to go on a diet.

'Emma called Harvey out for being a misogynist and a bully and really gave him a hard time,' the source said. Weinstein backed down."

If true -- and we don't know, but it sure as heck fits with the other accounts out there -- good for Emma, bad for Harvey, enraged for Hayley.

FRANCE-CANNES-AMFARAtwell went on to become most famous as Peggy Carter in the Marvel Cinematic Universe movies, and her own "Agent Carter" TV show. Weinstein was just fired from his own company, not for what he supposedly said to Atwell but because his "misconduct" with many other women was finally made public.

Vin Diesel Defends 'Fast 9' Delay: 'The Franchise Is in Need of Maintenance'

'Fast & Furious 8' Madrid PhotocallVin Diesel says it's "unfair" to blame any one person (*cough*TheRock*cough*) for the "Fast 9" delay, arguing "the franchise is in need of maintenance," and now they have the time for it.

Diesel is clearly trying to bring the "Fast" family back together after Tyrese Gibson's very public (but also very one-sided) feud with Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. Tyrese has posted several times, openly blaming The Rock's Hobbs spinoff for the delay of "Fast 9" delay; he tagged The Rock and producer Hiram Garcia when writing, "I guess dreams do come true congratulations to @hhgarcia41 and @therock you guys are just amazing you really broke up the #FastFamily..."

Diesel had posted a photo with Tyrese and Paul Walker, seeming to back Tyrese in his public attacks. However, he followed that with this "Brotherhood" photo alongside The Rock. In the new post, he addressed the "complexities" of the "Fast" family, but also teased "some very exciting news to share soon."

Brotherhood... and all it's complexities. This scene was filmed in Puerto Rico, I can remember it like it was yesterday. Such a beautiful island, the people were so warm and welcoming. I turned 43 that summer... and my son Vincent was born. A woman named Jan Kelly responded to a question I had asked on Facebook, 'who they would like to see me work with?' She said would love to see me work with Dwayne... I listened to her request and he became Hobbs. I know there has been a lot of speculation as to why the Fast 9 release date was pushed... but it would be unfair to say it is anyone's fault. As we plot the course to expand the Fast & Furious universe, one must be mindful to take stock of the roads we took to get here. The pillars of authenticity, family and most importantly, our loyal fan's perspective has been instrumental in procuring success. However, like any vehicle that has run around the globe 8 times, the franchise is in need of maintenance. My good friend and the godfather of Universal, Ron Meyer has granted me the time to do just that. We have some very exciting news to share soon... stay tuned. Yours truly, Dom #FamilyAlways

A post shared by Vin Diesel (@vindiesel) on

After that post, he shared this one with on-screen wife Michelle Rodriguez:

The Torettos...

A post shared by Vin Diesel (@vindiesel) on

It's possible the "maintenance" and "exciting news" have to do with Rodriguez's complaint that there hasn't been enough for the women to do after eight movies in the franchise. Either way, fans are on standby for some good news on the "Fast 9" front.

"Fast 9" was scheduled to open in 2019 but that was pushed to 2020. The spinoff with The Rock and Jason Statham will now open in 2019.

Here's Why 'Blade Runner 2049' Crashed at the Box Office

$
0
0

Remember way back in olden times -- say, four or five days ago -- when "Blade Runner 2049" was a well-reviewed, can't-miss hit that was going to shatter "Gravity"'s record for October debuts ($55.8 million) and was certain to net as much as $60 million in its first three days?

And yet, when all that beautifully styled futuristic smoke and mist cleared, the Ryan Gosling-Harrison Ford sci-fi sequel premiered with about half what was expected, just an estimated $31.5 million. That was still far and away enough to end the two-week reign of "Kingsman: The Golden Circle" atop the box office chart, but for a much-hyped, $155 million would-be blockbuster that was supposed to be the tentpole of Warner Bros.' fall schedule, that's a disastrous figure. At this rate, "Blade Runner 2049" will be lucky to earn back two-thirds of its budget in North American theaters.

If it's any consolation, the weekend's No. 2 movie, "The Mountain Between Us," underperformed as well, opening with an estimated $10.1 million against expectations in the mid-teens. Kiddie cartoon "My Little Pony: The Movie" did open slightly above expectations, but with a take of just an estimated $8.8 million and a debut in fourth place, it has nothing to write home about either.

What went wrong this weekend? Here are some factors.

1. Drawing Power

It doesn't matter how much you loved Gosling in "The Notebook" or "La La Land" or those funny memes from a few years back. You don't buy tickets to his movies based on his name alone. (This holds true for Ford, too, despite the enduring nostalgia value of sci-fi and adventure hits he made decades ago.) Supporting player Jared Leto has about 10 times the social media fanbase that Gosling does; then again, he doesn't sell tickets either. That $31.5 million that "Blade Runner 2049" earned this weekend is almost exactly the amount that the average Gosling movie has earned over its entire North American release. So kudos to the heartthrob for earning his biggest opening ever with "Blade Runner," but the $19.1 million debut of his "Crazy, Stupid Love" six years ago wasn't that high a bar to clear.

Speaking of heartthrobs, if anyone thought Idris Elba was going to be strong counter-programming to the testosterone-heavy "Blade Runner," and that he and Kate Winslet were going to draw women to see "The Mountain Between Us," they were mistaken. The Internet may swoon for Elba, but he's not a big box office draw either, as he proved two months ago with "The Dark Tower." Nor is Winslet; last time she had a lead role in a movie that opened as well as "Mountain" was six years ago with "Contagion." Online fandom and residual goodwill from past blockbusters are nice things for a star to be able to claim, but they don't necessarily translate into ticket sales.

2. It's Been a While

It's been an awfully long time since 1982, when Ford's original "Blade Runner" came out. It's not impossible for a sequel to follow its predecessor by 30 years and still be a hit, as "Mad Max: Fury Road" proved. But 35 years may be stretching it. Besides, the original "Blade Runner" wasn't a hit. It became a cult favorite over the past three decades, thanks to home video and multiple revised cuts being re-released into theaters. Still, that cult may not have extended beyond a hardcore audience of sci-fi fans and film buffs who appreciated its influence on later futuristic sci-fi films. So it's not like there was a huge audience eager to see the sequel to a movie that they've never watched, either because they were too young (or not born yet) or not interested enough 35 years ago.

3. Lost the Plot

The marketing campaign for the new "Blade Runner" was deliberately mysterious, meant to avoid revealing plot spoilers of any kind. That approach seems to have backfired, confusing the majority of viewers who didn't know the original's plot and characters that well to begin with. (Heck, even ardent "Blade Runner" fans may have been confused, given all the ambiguity stirred up by as many as seven different cuts of the original film.)

Not that you can't go too far in the other direction. There was no mystery at all as to the plotting and characters of "Mountain," but since the trailers promised the sort of survival-in-the-wilderness drama that's easily grasped from a 30-second ad, the overly familiar premise may have doomed "Mountain" among viewers who felt they'd been there, seen that.

And even kids may have felt "Pony" was too familiar, since they can see it for free on TV. The only real novelty was that the characters were voiced by celebrities their parents knew, not the TV actors whose voices kids would have expected to hear coming straight out of the horses' mouths. As "The LEGO Ninjago Movie" proved last month, repurposing a readily-available kid-TV property for the movies, but with new voice actors, is a recipe for failure.

The buzz. "2049" rode a wave of hype in the form of ecstatic reviews from critics (all of whom you can bet saw and appreciated the original), resulting in a strong 89 percent fresh score at Rotten Tomatoes. Paying customers seemed to like it just as much, giving it an A- grade at CinemaScore. Nonetheless, there were dissenters who found the movie overly long (it's 2 hours and 43 minutes), confusingly plotted, and slowly paced. As with the first "Blade Runner," everyone seemed to admire the movie's extravagant visuals, but as they say of Broadway musicals, no one goes home humming the sets.

Curiously, "Mountain" and "Pony" also earned A- grades at CinemaScore from satisfied customers, even though both earned mixed-to-poor reviews from critics (46 percent fresh at RT for "Mountain," 58 percent for "Pony"). To the extent that both movies were courting older ticket buyers who still read reviews -- adults craving grown-up drama for "Mountain," parents of small children for "Pony" -- the weak critical response to those films couldn't have helped. The high CinemaScore grades for all three movies among theatergoers don't mean much if you can't get them into the theater in the first place.

4. The Marketplace

And that's been the problem with the slumping box office since at least July.

The only offering in recent months that's really inspired people to leave their living rooms and buy movie tickets is "IT." (In its fifth weekend, the horror smash is still holding up impressively well, finishing third with an estimated $9.7 million and crossing the $300 million mark in total domestic sales.) There hasn't been a lot lately to draw viewers to the multiplex, especially young viewers. (This is the 10th straight weekend that the top-grossing film has been rated R, discouraging moviegoers under 17.)

Last weekend's total box office take was about $90.8 million, making it one of the lowest-grossing weekends of the year so far. This weekend's total wasn't much better, at an estimated $99.7 million. Despite some enormous blockbusters earlier this year, including "Beauty and the Beast" and "Wonder Woman," total grosses for the year are about 5 percent below where they were at this time in 2016.

The simple answer would seem to be "Make more crowd-pleasing movies." But all three of this weekend's wide releases were crowd-pleasers, so that's clearly not enough. Every movie, even one as rapturously reviewed as "Blade Runner 2049," has both strengths and liabilities, and your marketers can't just ignore those liabilities or wish them away.

Meryl Streep, Kevin Smith, Judi Dench Speak Out Against Harvey Weinstein

$

Australian Academy Of Cinema And Television Arts International Awards CeremonyThe fallout continues for Harvey Weinstein after last week's bombshell report from the New York Times that alleged decades of sexual harassment from the powerhouse producer. After losing his job at The Weinstein Company, Weinstein is now also losing the support of some of the biggest stars that have worked with him in the past.

The most famous among them is Meryl Streep, who released a statement to The Huffington Post blasting the producer's alleged behavior -- which includes exposing himself and asking women to give him massages and watch him shower, among other inappropriate requests -- and admitting she was unaware of the wrongdoing. Streep, who has collaborated numerous times with Weinstein, winning an Oscar for his 2011 production "The Iron Lady," called Weinstein's alleged actions "disgraceful" and "inexcusable."

Here's her full statement to HuffPo:

"The disgraceful news about Harvey Weinstein has appalled those of us whose work he championed, and those whose good and worthy causes he supported. The intrepid women who raised their voices to expose this abuse are our heroes.

One thing can be clarified. Not everybody knew. Harvey supported the work fiercely, was exasperating but respectful with me in our working relationship, and with many others with whom he worked professionally. I didn't know about these other offenses: I did not know about his financial settlements with actresses and colleagues; I did not know about his having meetings in his hotel room, his bathroom, or other inappropriate, coercive acts. And If everybody knew, I don't believe that all the investigative reporters in the entertainment and the hard news media would have neglected for decades to write about it.

The behavior is inexcusable, but the abuse of power familiar. Each brave voice that is raised, heard and credited by our watchdog media will ultimately change the game."

Judi Dench, another actress who won an Oscar while working with Weinstein (for 1998's "Shakespeare in Love"), also denounced the exec. In a statement to Newsweek, Dench voiced her support for his alleged victims.

The statement said:

"Whilst there is no doubt that Harvey Weinstein has helped and championed my film career for the past 20 years, I was completely unaware of these offenses which are, of course, horrifying, and I offer my sympathy to those who have suffered, and wholehearted support to those who have spoken out."

While he has yet to make additional remarks on the subject, filmmaker Kevin Smith also briefly touched upon the Weinstein scandal in a tweet sent out on Monday. Weinstein was an early champion of Smith and helped launch his career, with Mirimax distributing the writer-director's 1994 debut, "Clerks."

"He financed the first 14 years of my career - and now I know while I was profiting, others were in terrible pain," Smith tweeted, responding to a question about the scandal. "It makes me feel ashamed."

The New York Times reported last week that numerous women -- including employees, actresses, and models -- have claimed that Weinstein sexually harassed them over a nearly three-decade period. Ashley Judd went on the record to accuse Weinstein, and the Times reported that the exec paid at least eight women, including Rose McGowan, settlements over similar claims.

Better make a stop at Gringotts: Harry Potter's childhood home is for sale.

The 14th century cottage in the medieval village of Lavenham, England, located about 90 miles from London, was featured in 2010's "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 1," standing in for the home Harry inhabited with his parents in Godric's Hollow when he was just a baby. In the flick, the house can be seen opposite a graveyard (created entirely for the film, the listing notes), which Harry (Daniel Radcliffe) and Hermione (Emma Watson) visit at Christmastime to pay respects to Lily and James Potter, who were murdered by Voldemort in the home.

Known as the De Vere House, the real-life structure is famous not just for its "Potter" association, and was once inhabited by one of the wealthiest families in the country -- second only to the king. As such, it's listed for a royal sum of £995,000, which equates to approximately $1.3 million.

According to the home's official listing, the 3,000-plus square foot structure boasts plenty of eye-popping period details, including a herringbone facade, intricately-carved front door, and a stone spiral staircase. It's been split into two separate residences, but can be reconverted into a single-family structure, and features a total of six bedrooms, four bathrooms, and a reception hall, perfect for hosting "Potter"-themed parties.

We'll start saving up our galleons now.

A New 'Star Wars: The Last Jedi' Trailer Is Coming, But Spoilerphobes May Want to Skip It

Six long months after Disney and Lucasfilm premiered the first teaser for "Star Wars: The Last Jedi," a new trailer is finally set to drop for the hotly-anticipated flick. But according to director Rian Johnson, those looking to avoid spoilers may want to skip the clip entirely.

In a Twitter exchange this weekend, Johnson was asked whether or not fans should watch the trailer, since the director had previously advised audiences to isolate themselves from information about the flick. According to Johnson, the trailer is really good (or "gooooood," as he put it) -- but spoilerphobes may indeed want to steer clear.

"I [am] legitimately torn," the director wrote in response to the "to watch or not to watch" quandry. "If you want to come in clean, absolutely avoid it. But it's gooooood....."

We're legitimately torn, too. After all, taking the surprise away from the flick certainly takes away some of the fun. But the need for new "Star Wars" intel is also pretty great, too.

For many fans, the choice to watch will literally be a game-time decision: The new trailer is set to premiere during tonight's broadcast of Monday Night Football on ESPN.

"Star Wars: The Last Jedi" hits theaters on December 15.

Latest 'Justice League' Trailer Has an Inspiring Message of Unity

The latest "Justice League" trailer is as uplifting as it is action-packed.

Warner Bros. Pictures released the new preview on Sunday, and it has a surprisingly moving message. The trailer shows its DCEU superheroes learning to work together in the face of evil, including issues that are all too real.

"Violence, acts of war, and terrorism are all on the rise," we hear in the trailer.

The line refers specifically to the time since the death of Superman (Henry Cavill) in "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice," but the threats mirror the ones we see in real life, as well. Therefore, it's nice to see the characters come together, however reluctantly they are in the beginning.

"Divided, we are not enough," Batman (Ben Affleck) says as we watch them join forces to save the world.

Watch Batman, Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot), Aquaman (Jason Momoa), The Flash (Ezra Miller), and Cyborg (Ray Fisher) take on evil below.

"Justice League" hits theaters on Nov. 17.

New 'Star Wars: The Last Jedi' Trailer Goes to the Dark Side

The new trailer for "Star Wars: The Last Jedi" is finally here!

The Skywalker saga grows more intense, with Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) seemingly targeting his own mother, Leia (the late Carrie Fisher), Snoke torturing Rey (Daisy Ridley), Finn (John Boyega) in hand-to-hand combat against Captain Phasma (Gwendoline Christie), and Luke (Mark Hamill) having a flashback to the destruction of his Jedi academy.

The trailer also teases Rey's possible temptation to the dark side, with a brief flash of her torture at the hands of Snoke. Then, in the last seconds of the trailer, she says "I need someone to show me my place in all this" before Kylo Ren reaches a hand out to her.

Of course, it could all be clever editing and the two moments come from completely different scenes. Still, with Luke recalling that he's only seen such power as Rey holds once before (in Kylo Ren), the movie appears to set up parallels between the two young Force-strong warriors.

"Star Wars: The Last Jedi" opens in theaters December 15.

Dinner And Show - 24th Annual GLAAD Media AwardsEven more Hollywood actors are going public to speak out against producer Harvey Weinstein after the New York Times reported on decades of alleged sexual harassment.

Weinstein has already lost his job at the company he founded, and celebs including Meryl Streep have already denounced him. Now, others are adding their voices to the tide.

In a statement, Oscar winner Jennifer Lawrence, whose movie "Silver Linings Playbook" was produced by Weinstein, said:

I was deeply disturbed to hear the news about Harvey Weinstein's behavior. I worked with Harvey five years ago and I did not experience any form of harassment personally, nor did I know about any of these allegations. This kind of abuse is inexcusable and absolutely upsetting. My heart goes out to all of the women affected by these gross actions. And I want to thank them for their bravery to come forward.

Kate Winslet, who starred in the Weinstein Company's "The Reader," told Variety:

The fact that these women are starting to speak out about the gross misconduct of one of our most important and well regarded film producers, is incredibly brave and has been deeply shocking to hear. The way Harvey Weinstein has treated these vulnerable, talented young women is NOT the way women should ever EVER deem to be acceptable or commonplace in ANY workplace.

Many male stars are also stepping forward to stand with the victims. George Clooney told the Daily Beast:

It's indefensible. That's the only word you can start with. Harvey's admitted to it, and it's indefensible. I've known Harvey for 20 years. He gave me my first big break as an actor in films on 'From Dusk Till Dawn,' he gave me my first big break as a director with 'Confessions of a Dangerous Mind.' We've had dinners, we've been on location together, we've had arguments. But I can tell you that I've never seen any of this behavior — ever.

Weinstein's accusers include actresses like Ashley Judd, who have alleged that the producer repeatedly expose himself and made inappropriate requests, such as massages. The allegations indicated that the producer has paid harassment settlements to various employees and colleagues over many years.

Everyone Is Going Insane Over the Adorable Porg in 'The Last Jedi' Trailer

The internet is abuzz about the new full-length "Star Wars: The Last Jedi" trailer. And while there's chatter about Kylo possibly killing mom Leia and Rey appearing to turn to the Dark Side, what people really can't stop talking about is the porg.

Porgs are a new creature that will be introduced in "Last Jedi." As Lucasfilm's Pablo Hidalog explained, "Porgs are native to Ahch-To, and can be found dwelling along the cliffs of the island where Luke and Rey are. In many ways, they're the Star Wars version of puffins. They build nests. They can fly. Their babies are called porglets." (We're dying.)

Ever since word of the porgs filtered out, fans have been divided. Are they the new Ewoks? Or worse, Jar-Jar Binks? Others are charmed by their adorable appearance. And after the trailer, everyone may just be on #TeamPorg.

The porg is seen with Chewbacca in the Millennium Falcon. After Chewy roars, the porg squawks, too. And Twitter is loving it.

Gwyneth Paltrow, Angelina Jolie, More Actresses Say Harvey Weinstein Sexually Harrassed Them

The 50th Anniversary Gala Of The National Film TheatreThe growing list of powerful Hollywood voices speaking out against Harvey Weinstein's alleged pattern of sexual harassment now includes new accusers, too: Gwyneth Paltrow and Angelina Jolie have claimed that the powerful movie mogul harassed them early in their careers.

The Oscar winners are the biggest names to come forward so far, following fellow actress Ashley Judd, who went on the record with the New York Times in last week's explosive report uncovering decades of alleged misconduct from Weinstein. Paltrow and Jolie spoke to the Times this week about their negative experiences with the producer, which they say happened when they were relative Hollywood newcomers.

Jolie told the Times that Weinstein "made unwanted advances on her in a hotel room, which she rejected," during the making of 1998's "Playing by Heart."

"I had a bad experience with Harvey Weinstein in my youth, and as a result, chose never to work with him again and warn others when they did," Jolie said in a statement. "This behavior towards women in any field, any country is unacceptable."

Paltrow gave a more detailed interview to the Times, revealing that her own uncomfortable encounter with Weinstein occurred back in the early '90s, when she was 22 and just cast in Mirimax's "Emma."

As the actress explained, the producer summoned her to a hotel for what she thought was a business meeting; instead, she was sent to his room, where Paltrow says Weinstein ended up "placing his hands on her and suggesting they head to the bedroom for massages." Paltrow said she refused his advances and left, and later told her then-boyfriend, Brad Pitt, about the encounter.

The actress said Pitt then confronted Weinstein about the incident, and "told him never to touch Ms. Paltrow again," which a representative for Pitt confirmed to the paper.

The Times reports:

Mr. Weinstein called Ms. Paltrow and berated her for discussing the episode, she said. (She said she also told a few friends, family members and her agent.) "He screamed at me for a long time," she said, once again fearing she could lose the role in "Emma."

...

Even as Ms. Paltrow became known as the "first lady of Miramax" and won an Oscar for "Shakespeare in Love" in 1999, very few people knew about Mr. Weinstein's advances. "I was expected to keep the secret," she said.

Paltrow told the Times that she felt pressure from the industry to forget what happened and play nice with Weinstein, whom she publicly praised and acted friendly with. Their mercurial relationship eventually soured, she said, and the recent revelations about his behavior toward other women inspired her to come forward with her own story.

"We're at a point in time when women need to send a clear message that this is over," Paltrow told the Times. "This way of treating women ends now."

In addition to Paltrow and Jolie, five other actresses, including Rosanna Arquette, also spoke to the Times about alleged harassment from Weinstein, all describing similar behavior. One actress said the producer chased her naked around his living room; another said Weinstein proposed a threesome, and when she declined, he allegedly told her, "You'll never make it in this business. This is how the business works."

A spokesman for Weinstein, Sallie Hofmeister, said in a statement to the Times:

"Any allegations of non-consensual sex are unequivocally denied by Mr. Weinstein. Mr. Weinstein has further confirmed that there were never any acts of retaliation against any women for refusing his advances. He will not be available for further comments, as he is taking the time to focus on his family, on getting counseling and rebuilding his life."

Meryl Streep, George Clooney, and Jennifer Lawrence are among those who have denounced Weinstein so far. The producer, who had previously pledged to seek treatment for admitted past poor behavior, was fired from The Weinstein Company over the weekend.

Martin Scorsese Really Hates Rotten Tomatoes and Cinemascore

Gordon Parks Foundation Awards Dinner & AuctionThe recent F Cinemascore grade bestowed upon Darren Aronofsky's "mother!" made headlines last month, and now, that story has ruffled the feathers of one of Hollywood's most famous filmmakers.

In an essay for The Hollywood Reporter, Martin Scorsese lobbed some heavy complaints at both Cinemascore and Rotten Tomatoes, arguing that today's obsession with "brutal judgmentalism" is seriously damaging the film industry, and that both companies are responsible for such a decline. According to Scorsese, Cinemascore and Rotten Tomatoes "have absolutely nothing to do with real film criticism," but are somehow treated as such.

The filmmaker writes:

These firms and aggregators have set a tone that is hostile to serious filmmakers — even the actual name Rotten Tomatoes is insulting. And as film criticism written by passionately engaged people with actual knowledge of film history has gradually faded from the scene, it seems like there are more and more voices out there engaged in pure judgmentalism, people who seem to take pleasure in seeing films and filmmakers rejected, dismissed and in some cases ripped to shreds.

Scorsese said he was particularly upset by the "mother!"-Cinemascore kerfuffle, because according to him, the film demands the type of careful, thoughtful analysis that Cinemascore and the Tomatometer cannot possibly consider.

"Good films by real filmmakers aren't made to be decoded, consumed or instantly comprehended," he writes. "They're not even made to be instantly liked. They're just made, because the person behind the camera had to make them."

Scorsese is hardly the first filmmaker to complain about Rotten Tomatoes, though his comments have divided critics and film fans on Twitter. Some see his opinion as a bit outdated, while others defended his point that art shouldn't be immediately judged.

Another 'Fifty Shades' Book From Christian's Perspective Is Coming

Fans of the "Fifty Shades of Grey" book and film series are in for another naughty treat: Author E.L. James is re-releasing yet another novel from the series, rewritten from Christian's perspective.

Publisher Vintage Books announced the news on Tuesday, revealing that James would next tackle a new version of "Fifty Shades Darker," the second book in the three-tome series, this time focusing the story around the enigmatic billionaire with a BDSM fetish. The new book will be called "Darker: 50 Shades Darker as Told by Christian."

The author performed a similar switcheroo with the first "Fifty Shades" book, which got its own Christian-centric companion, "Grey," back in 2015. In a statement, James promised even more revelations from the kinky protagonist.

"The inside of Christian Grey's head is a fascinating place to be," the author's statement said. "In 'Grey' we got the first glimpse of what makes Christian tick, but in 'Darker' we go deeper, into his most painful memories and the encounters that made him the damaged, demanding man Ana falls in love with. Writing this novel has been a journey of discovery, and I hope readers will find what I've learned as compelling as I did."

Critics gave "Grey" a nasty spanking when it was released, so here's hoping for James's -- and readers' -- sake that "Darker" fares better. The book is due to hit shelves on November 28.

'Thor: Ragnarok' Is Actually the Start of Mark Ruffalo's Unique Hulk 'Standalone' Movie

$

Surprise, Mark Ruffalo's The Hulk is getting his own solo story after all -- it just happens to be spread across three other Marvel movies.

The Hulk already has his own standalone movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe -- "The Incredible Hulk," starring Edward Norton in the title role. That was the second-ever film in the modern MCU. After that, Mark Ruffalo took on Bruce Banner/The Hulk. Ruffalo's Hulk can't really get his own standalone film like Captain America, Thor, and company because of certain rights issues with Universal. (Ruffalo talked about that during D23 over the summer.) He can only be in other characters' movies, like the upcoming "Thor: Ragnarok," or group movies like "Avengers: Infinity War," and "Avengers 4."

Marvel isn't letting that hold it back from showcasing one of its best and certainly biggest characters. Mark Ruffalo told CinemaBlend that Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige created a special story arc for The Hulk that they plan to spread across three films, starting with "Thor: Ragnarok":

"So basically, Kevin pulled me aside before this, and said, 'If you were gonna do a... if we were going to do a standalone Hulk movie, what would it be?' And I said, 'I think it should be this, this, this, and this and this, and ends up like this.' And he's like, 'I love that. Why don't we do that in the next three movies, starting with Thor 3 and then we go into Avengers 3 and 4.' And I was like, 'That sounds great!' And so we are at the beginning of this arc."

That does sound great. It wouldn't technically be a "standalone" movie that way, so Universal can't get mad. But enterprising souls -- and there are many in the Marvel fandom -- could make a supercut of all the Hulk scenes from "Thor 3," "Avengers 3," and "Avengers 4" and create the standalone film online.

So far, "Thor 3" has been getting the best reviews of the "Thor" films. It's exciting for the character of Bruce Banner, and Ruffalo as a very worthy actor, to be able to tell his own story even amid all of the insane action of a "Thor" film and the next two "Avengers" movies.

"Thor: Ragnarok" opens November 3. "Avengers: Infinity War"opens Mary 4, 2018. "Avengers 4," which will reveal its official title after "Avengers: Infinity War" opens, comes out May 3, 2019.
