Some movies that play at January's Sundance Film Festival take longer to reach multiplexes than others, but in the case of "A.C.O.D.," which opens in October, it seems to be worth the wait. The comedy, co-written by "The Colbert Report" co-creator Ben Karlin, stars Adam Scott, Amy Poehler, Jessica Alba, Jane Lynch, Richard Jenkins, and Catherine O'Hara, and it looks, by casual estimation, to be really, really funny.

"A.C.O.D." stands for adult child of divorce, something that the main character (played by Scott) clearly is. He was unwittingly part of a study about children of divorce, conducted many years earlier by Lynch, who seeks his input for a follow-up study. Hilarity, as is often the case, ensues.

Based on the trailer, the tone seems to be somewhere between comedy and drama, with a distinct "Dan in Real Life" vibe. But it errs more on the side of comedy, which is always good, and the supporting cast is beyond insane (additionally, Clark Duke, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, and Adam Pally make appearances).

We've been waiting for Scott to get the opportunity to take center stage, after years of stealing scenes in "Step Brothers," "Piranha 3-D," and, of course, television's "Parks and Recreation." He also has a role in Ben Stiller's "The Secret Life of Walter Mitty," out this winter.

But why are you still reading this? Just watch the trailer and have a good chuckle (while also maybe going "awwww").
