Matt Damon at the 2011 Critics' Choice Movie Awards

Matt Damon is following in buddy Ben Affleck's shoes.

No, he's not signing up for Zack Snyder's Superman/Batman movie; instead, he's planning to move behind the camera for his directorial debut.

Indiewire reports that Damon is circling "A Foreigner," an adaptation penned by Oscar-winning "Argo" screenwriter Chris Terrio. The story is based on a 2008 New Yorker article, "A Murder Foretold," about a man killed in Guatemala who taped a video accusing the president and other political figures of being involved in his death.

Damon was supposed to make his directorial debut last year with "Promised Land," a drama about fracking in a small town starring John Krasinski. But due to his overloaded schedule, Damon stepped aside and asked "Good Will Hungting" director Gus Van Sant to replace him.

It may still be some time before filming for "A Murder Foretold" gets underway. The "Elysium" star is as busy as ever, with two movies hitting theaters in December -- George Clooney's "The Monuments Men" and Terry Gilliam's "The Zero Theorem."

And as Indiewire also reports, Damon has just snagged a small role in Christopher Nolan's sci-fi epic "Interstellar." Sources tell the site that Damon will only be on set in Iceland for two weeks of the four-month shoot.

One thing not on Damon's plate at the moment? Another Jason Bourne movie.
