Disney has finally released its first official synopsis for "Tomorrowland," the George Clooney vehicle inspired in part by a mysterious box found at the studio.
The synopsis confirms previously rumored speculation about the film's plot, which focuses on Clooney's character, an inventor. From the press release:
"Bound by a shared destiny, a bright, optimistic teen bursting with scientific curiosity and a former boy-genius inventor jaded by disillusionment embark on a danger-filled mission to unearth the secrets of an enigmatic place somewhere in time and space that exists in their collective memory as 'Tomorrowland.'"
Joining Clooney in the cast are Britt Robertson (of TV's "Under the Dome" fame, who'll play the teenager), Hugh Laurie, Raffey Cassidy ("Dark Shadows," "Snow White and the Huntsman"), and Thomas Robinson ("The Switch"). Brad Bird ("The Incredibles") is both directing and co-writing (with Damon Lindelof), from a story by Bird, Lindelof, and Entertainment Weekly's Jeff Jensen.
Sounds like a great group of collaborators; we're excited to see how this one turns out. "Tomorrowland," which has kicked off production in Vancouver, is slated for release on December 12, 2014.
