Ben Stiller is a daydream believer.
After what seems like a bazillion years, Stiller's big-screen version of "The Secret Life of Walter Mitty" is ready to hit theaters. And if the gorgeous, evocative first trailer is any indication, this passion project may net Stiller some serious awards consideration.
Stiller directs and stars in the adaptation of James Thurber's classic short story, about a Life magazine proofreader who escapes his drab life through fantasies about heroic adventures and romantic interludes with a co-worker (Kristen Wiig).
The trailer features almost no dialogue and feels like a daydream in itself, with beautiful images set to a stirring song by Of Monsters and Men. Mitty jumps in (and out of) helicopters, skateboards down a highway, falls out of buildings, and treks across a frozen tundra.
"The Secret Life of Walter Mitty" also stars Sean Penn, Adam Scott, Patton Oswalt, and Shirley MacLaine. The adventure starts Christmas Day.
