Christian Bale is known for his physical transformations, but it looks like Bradley Cooper might give him a run for his money in David O. Russell's "American Hustle." We've seen shots of the actors filming, but here's one of the first official images from the '70s-set drama about a sleazy scammer and his moll.
Bale and his fantastic comb-over star as the con man in question, one Irving Rosenfeld, and Amy Adams appears as his partner-in-crime, Sydney Prosser. Both actors received critical acclaim for their roles in Russell's "The Fighter," with Bale taking home an Oscar for his turn as former boxer Dicky Eklund.
Another Russell movie pair -- "Silver Linings Playbook" co-stars Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence -- are also back for another go-around with the director. Cooper rocks some Todd Phillips-style curls as a federal agent who forces Rosenfeld and Prosser to tattle on other grifters, scammers, politicians, and assorted scoundrels. Oscar winner Lawrence plays Rosenfeld's "loose cannon of a Long Island housewife."
Rounding out the impressive cast are Jeremy Renner, who appears as a New Jersey mayor, Robert De Niro, Michael Peña, and Louis CK.Indiewire, USA Today]
"American Hustle" will groove its way into theaters in limited release on December 13, with a wide release slated for December 25. It's a Christmas movie for the whole family!
