"The Cabin in the Woods" is moving to a less remote location, with Universal Orlando theme park announcing it will adapt the horror flick into a new attraction set to open this fall during the park's annual Halloween Horror Nights celebration.

Directed by Drew Goddard and co-written by Joss Whedon, "Cabin" follows five teenagers who venture to the titular secluded cabin, only to find themselves at the mercy of a surveillance team who taunts and tortures the group with a host of horrors. The Universal attraction will recreate both the cabin and the subterranean surveillance base, with visitors on the side of those pulling the strings.

The storyline of the attraction, to be written by Goddard, will expand the mythology of the mysterious organization behind the cabin's undertakings, and will feature videos inducting new recruits -- the visitors -- into its ranks. Universal officials have said that the attraction will keep the spirit of "Cabin"'s surprise cameos alive by featuring not only creatures from the film, but other classic monsters from the Universal fold.

"My wish for 'Cabin' was always that it would live on outside the film, that people would take that ball and run with it, and I can't imagine a better fit for what we were trying to do with the movie than make a maze out of it," Goddard said in an interview with Zap2it.

The "Cabin in the Woods" attraction will run on select days of Universal Orlando's Halloween Horror Nights from September 20 through November 2.
