bryan singer x-men apocalypse"X-Men: Days of Future Past" is still two months away from opening in theaters, but director Bryan Singer's mind is already on the future -- the next "X-Men" movie after that.

Singer reveals some tidbits about "X-Men: Apocalypse" in Total Film (via JoBlo.com), including the era in which the movie will be set.

As he teases, the new movie will be about ancient mutants, "the fact they were born and existed thousands of years ago." But don't expect cavemen and Neanderthal mutants. "It'll take place in the '80s," Singer says. "The '80s is a period now -- it's hard for me to believe that!"

As to which of the familiar "X-Men" faces we might see in "Apocalypse," Singer doesn't say. But he does promise more mayhem and chaos than ever before.

"'Apocalypse 'will have more of the mass destruction that X-Men films, to date, have not relied upon," he notes.

"There's definitely now a character and a story that allow room for that kind of spectacle."

Run for your comics, and let the speculation begin!
