According to Walt Disney Company CEO and Chairman Robert Iger, the events that take place in April's "Captain America: The Winter Soldier," lead directly into what's to come in next summer's feverishly anticipated "Avengers: Age of Ultron." The Disney chief dropped this nugget-y detail on investors and analysts on Wednesday, according to The Wrap.

The repercussions will be felt elsewhere in the Disney-Marvel Universe, with the effects of "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" also being felt on ABC's "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.," a series that looked like it could be one of the Disney-owned network's breakout hits (and another feather in its cap, when it came to the bold, cross-platform synergy that Marvel and Disney have outright perfected) but has limped along since its broadcast premiere. The ratings are fine and people seem to be watching, but is anyone really talking about "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D."?

But maybe a "Captain America" tie-in could bring the show out of deep freeze? Maybe. Juuuuuust maybe.

What's interesting is that Iger doesn't mention "Guardians of the Galaxy," this summer's big Marvel movie, when talking about the canonical impact of "Captain America 2." This is probably because "Guardians of the Galaxy" takes place in the deep recesses of space. And also because it's going to be really, really weird. (Can't wait!)

"Captain America: The Winter Soldier," which Iger promised investors "takes the Captain America story to incredible new levels," will be out on April 4. "Avengers: Age of Ultron," which reunites all of the original Avengers (including Captain America!) is out on May 1, 2015. Prepare thyself.
