Lopez, who co-wrote the tune "Let It Go" from "Frozen" with his wife, Kristen Anderson-Lopez (pictured), already has an E, G, and T to his name, thanks to his work on musicals "Avenue Q" (Tony) and "The Book of Mormon" (another Tony, and a Grammy for its soundtrack), and children's TV show "Wonder Pets" (Emmy).
Slate points out that some people may call into question Lopez's status as a true EGOT, since his Emmy was won in the Daytime programming field. Still, the site says that Whoopi Goldberg has long been considered an EGOT, and her Emmy was also Daytime; Lopez can and should be able to claim the title if he's victorious on Oscar night.
Lopez would also be the youngest-ever EGOT if he wins an Academy Award (he'll turn 39 just before this year's telecast), and will have taken the shortest time to do it. (According to Wikipedia, Rita Moreno is the current quickest EGOT winner, claiming all four awards over a span of 16 years. If Lopez comes out on top next month, it will have taken him just a decade.)
Here's hoping Oscar night is a historic one for Lopez and awards trivia geeks alike.
