Another thing that makes this a no-brainer is that two of the voice stars of "Frozen" are already known for their Broadway chops. Idina Menzel sings her heart out as icy princess Elsa, and her song "Let It Go" is a number one stunner. (Elsa makes for an interesting juxtaposition with her Tony-winning character Elphaba in "Wicked.") Josh Gad, who plays a cuddly snowman named Olaf, snagged a Tony nomination for his role in "The Book of Mormon," and also has a charming song in "Frozen" that would easily make the leap to Broadway.
"Frozen" composers Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez also have some serious Broadway credentials as well. Lopez has a Tony for his work on "Avenue Q," which he co-created, and a whole host of 'em for "The Book of Mormon."
We'll have to wait and see if "Frozen" will become a Broadway staple like "The Lion King," another Disney movie that has made an indelible mark on the stage and screen. For now, we'll be listening to the soundtrack and counting the days until it comes to DVD.
