Fans of 1993 Bill Murray comedy "Groundhog Day" may be getting deja vu all over again: The movie is set to get a musical adaptation.

The U.K.'s Daily Mail reports that the duo behind recent hit "Matilda the Musical" have been meeting with original "Groundhog Day" screenwriter Danny Rubin to collaborate on a musical interpretation of the film, which was directed by Harold Ramis and starred Murray and Andie MacDowell. Murray played a disgruntled weatherman forced to relive the same day over and over again until he gains a more positive outlook on life.

Writer/composer Tim Minchin and director Matthew Warchus are already hard at work on the "Groundhog Day" project, and say that they want to make the show distinctive from the film.

"It has to be something in its own right, not just a carbon copy," Warchus told The Daily Mail.

Warchus added that Minchin and Rubin have been collaborating "for a while," and that the musical should be ready to workshop sometime this spring. Warchus will then decide whether or not to open the show in London or New York.
